D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears Looking Explosive For Fantasy Football
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Renegade Fantasy.
The other day Bears HC Ben Johnson gave perhaps the most bullish quote in the history of fantasy football:
“You’ve got 31 other teams coming to training camp saying, ‘Our goal is to win the Super Bowl.’ I want more than that. I want to have the highest-scoring offense ever, which happens to be the 2013 Denver Broncos. I know how many points per game they scored (37.9), and I want to surpass them. I want shutouts. I want blowouts.”
I mean, fire me up Mr. Johnson. I’m ready to run through a brick wall.
And am I crazy for thinking this is vaguely actionable as far as our draft plans are concerned? It doesn’t take an astrophysicist to know that when teams don’t take their foot off the gas, good things happen in fantasy land.
It immediately reminded me of a Lions game from 2024 when they boat-raced the Jags 52-6. Despite being up 28-6 at halftime, Dan Campbell and Johnson let Jared Goff continue to cook. He finished with 412 yards passing and 4 TDs. Other notable stat lines from that blowout:
- Amon-Ra St. Brown: 11-161-2
- Jameson Williams: 4-124-1
- David Montgomery: 15-75-2
- Jahmyr Gibbs: 11-69-1; 1-43
TLDR: everyone ate and they ate good.
I know vibes are slightly down on Luther Burden right now with the groin injury, but let’s get hyped on a couple other pieces in this offense courtesy of Matthew’s annual 100 Facts banger:
*Facts 39-44A (D’Andre Swift): “In each of the last three seasons, Swift has at least 220 carries, 40 targets and 1,200 yards from scrimmage … Since he entered the NFL, he ranks fourth among all running backs in targets … Fourth in receptions .. And fourth in receiving yards … Swift has increased his total fantasy points in each of the last three years, finishing last year as RB14 … He’s currently being drafted as RB23 in consensus ADP … What are we doing here, people?”
* Facts 82-83 (Colston Loveland): “As a rookie, Loveland averaged 1.98 yards per route run. Since 2011, the only rookie tight ends with a better yards-per-route-run season are Brock Bowers and Kyle Pitts.”
If we take Johnson at face value with his intention to never stop scoring, I’m unironically prepared to #adjusttheranks.

Finding ADP Bargains In Cupps’ Cabinet
Drafts are happening, which means that ADP is beginning to take shape on platforms beyond Underdog—though shoutout to the best ball bros for getting us through these past couple months in search of a current ADP. With that, we’re seeing players start to fall through the cracks, and they’re screaming deals on certain platforms, though not on others.
